Your chicken swing needs tp be around 3 diameter. I used Old cracked posts cut 2 feet wide. I commonly see 3 on it at a time. Put around 20 inches of the ground. Is very popular amongst everything I have done. They love it. Got 18 layers and Almost every time I approch there yard there is a bird on it. Little rope and presto swing.

We just experienced this same thing a few months ago. Never had chickens before but the place we moved to recently came w/7 of them! Two hens became broody. Had 4 healthy chicks hatch & two were killed by one of the broody hens. One was injured. Thankfully, we nursed the injured one back to health & kept her in our laundry/mud room w/a heat lamp. We named her Miracle. 💛 She is so big now & doing great. The other stayed w/one of the broody hens for awhile (away from the flock), we then brought it inside too w/the other chick but they were in separate crates. It just started crowing not long ago, so we have another rooster now. Both are 11/12 wks old. We are now trying to integrate them back into main coop safely(looking into building a new coop). But it was hard losing the other chicks(especially for our young son), but we learned a lot. In the future, we will separate any broody hens & chicks. Thank you for sharing ya’ll’s experience. Keep going & don’t give up. 🙏🤍

My Pyr needs his own pooch, a side kick. He's a house doggo, I'm the livestock, but he also looks after the neighbor kids. We relocated to a new town and he's been a tad homesick, so I'm hoping a pup will help him. He's good with separation, but he's always had my dad (aka Pop Pop) to hang out with, up until last year. Doesn't listen to a word I say, unless it's treat or ride, and super independent. But, he's an outstanding pooch that I love to death.

This idea might go viral! At least it's better than ice water on the head or eating Tide pods!!

We spray our shade cloth over the tractor that creates a mist kinda like a swamp cooler. The chickens initially run from the spray but eventually return to the cooler air and the damp floor.

Just a word of caution- Silkies and Polish may struggle with the cold weather make sure they stay dry or else when it gets cold they may freeze because they are not water proof- If you want to expand the main flock- Silkies go broody like clockwork. But it’s a lovely breed for your children to watch, play with, and look after ❤

My hens will not eat corn ,tried it several times ,but they eat everything else and leave the corn

Always put God first!

Sadly these coops and runs are not at all predator proof. Rats, mice and raccoons can reach right in and grab a chicken. Most of these coops are made to be under a shelter or inside a barn. The metal tray for cleaning the coop will over time warp, rust and not work. I wouldn't house more than say 5 chickens in that coop . They do work great for raising chicks that you are acclimating to outdoors. You would be better off building a wooden coop with an attached run for your silkies that is more predator proof. None of the coop is insulated for cold winter temps either. I hope and pray nothing happens to your daughters chickens while in this coop. Please watch for predators digging under the run as well.

Silkies are one of breeds that are more prone to diseases Because of their fluffy like fur feathers you must assure that they don't get wet, they also don't like hot weather.

I bought the next size bigger 900+ at Tractor Supply....it's been great for 7 hens...I am 5'10 tall enough for me to stand in pen and coop...cross bars add a spot for hanging water and feed...yours is cute...

Since the new coup is in the Sun--would you please put a themometer inside the coup--those plastics can get over a hundred degrees in the sun?
